In 2020, Christine and I returned from a road trip around Australia, travelling by road from North Queensland all the way down to Tasmania. We arrived home just as COVID began to unfold, and during that strange and quiet period, songs started appearing unexpectedly. Almost every morning, I would wake up with a new melody or idea already forming in my head.
The inspiration for these songs was deeply shaped by our travels — both the recent journey and memories of places and experiences from years gone by. Since then, the music has continued to flow. What began as simple ideas gradually evolved into complete songs, and eventually into full albums.
Over the past six years, I’ve written around 60 songs, and Halfway To Somewhere have released three albums.
